Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Heniochus monoceros are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Heniochus monoceros, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Heniochus monoceros, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Husbandry

Heniochus monoceros ist ein silbrig-weißer Wimpelfisch mit einem markanten knöchernen Vorsprung am Kopf, mit drei dunkelbraunen Bändern, das erste auf dem Kopf über den Augen, das letzte diffus und unvollständig, Rücken-, Schwanz- und Afterflossen sind gelb.

Der Faklterfisch besitzt eleines Horn auf der Stirn, wie Heniochus singularis und Heniochus varius, aber mit weitgehend weißer und gelber Afterflosse und nicht weitgehend schwarz.
Eine Paarbildung findet im Meer nur zur Fortpflanzung statt.

Haltung wie andere Wimpelfische, werden aber mit 23 cm sehr gross für ein normales Heimaquarium.

Ansonsten ist uns noch wenig über die Aquariumhaltung bekannt.
