Phyllaplysia padinae is olive-green to brownish green with random white spots.Some individuals are scattered brown spot,somespecies have a few variably shaped papillae,some with multiple tips.

The name "padinae" refers to the brown algae Padina durvillae on which Phyllaplysia padinae lives and on that it feeds.
