The bandfishes (Trachipteridae) or ribbon fish are a family of "Lampriformes". The from 10cm to 3meters long expectant pelagic species live in all oceans including the Mediterranean and the Arctic Ocean.
The siber colored fish have a long, the whole body full dorsal fin, which is constantly waving. The small, fan-shaped tail fin is inclined upward. Sense- or Band fish have no ribs.
Its normal swimming position is oblique, with the head upwards. Only during fast swimming in the water they lie horizontally. The juvenile stages of fish have long scythe fin rays
