Info
Due to the very large range of many benthic marine animals Goniistius zebra is not reef-safe and therefore does not belong in a conventional marine aquarium, if it really has to be, then from our point of view only a larger, pure fish aquarium would be an option.
Goniistius zebra is called “Redlip morwong” in English, but this name has also been given to Cheilodactylus rubrolabiatus (Allen & Heemstra, 1976), for example, so you should be careful which species is actually meant.
The reason for the name is the extremely red lips of the two finger fins.
As the fish is imported for the specialist trade, we are keen to hear any additions and husbandry experiences.
Synonyms:
Cheilodactylus vittatus Garrett, 1864 · unaccepted
Gregoryina gygis Fowler & Ball, 1924 · unaccepted
