Fissurella volcano Reeve, 1849

The Volcano Keyhole Limpet, Fissurella volcano have a high oval profile that tapers slightly at the anterior end. The radial ribs vary from rough to fairly low and the keyhole is just forward of center. Most shells are eroded around the apex.

Surface of the shell is pink in colour with red to black radial lines.

Fissurella volcano is a herbivore with preference for diatoms, periphyton, and foliose and filamentous red seaweeds.

Similar to Diodora aspera.
