Nemalion vermiculare Suringar, 1874
This short-lived annual appears in the late spring to early summer, forming spaghetti-like masses on intertidal rocks. The gamete-bearing phase alternates with a microscopic filamentous one.
This species was introduced accidentally, probably via oysters from the northern Pacific, into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 183) being first found in the Etang de Thau (France) in 2005, from which it does not appear to have spread (2015). - (5 Nov 2015) - M.D. Guiry
Synonymised names:
Nemalion elminthoides var. vermiculare (Suringar) C.K.Tseng, 1984
