Synalpheus hemphilli Coutière, 1909

Synalpheus is a genus of snapping shrimp of the family Alpheidae,

This is a sponge associated pistol shrimp. Can be found comensal on sponges, including Chalinula variabilis,Callyspongia (Cladochalina) aculeata,Lissodendoryx (Lissodendoryx) colombiensis, Callyspongia (Cladochalina) aculeata und Igernella notabilis.

Host/prey of the parasitic isopod Parabopyriscus stellatus.

Similar to Synalpheus fritzmuelleri from Caribbean Panama (differ by having spotted leggs).
