Naticarius onca,commonly known as Moon Snail , is a predatory sea snail. This sea snail is nocturnal. It can be found during the day in sandy bottom.
Sand collars are the characteristic egg masses of one family of sea snails, the moon snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Naticidae. These egg masses are often found washed up either whole, or sometimes in fragments, on sandy beaches where moon snails are living, either intertidally or subtidally.
Like other moon snails Naticarius onca is a predator and feeds on b shelled molluscs. This moon snail bore a hole into the mollusc shell using its radula and a secretion.
