Paguristes jalur Morgan, 1992

he holotype describing Paguristes jalur comes from Horburgh Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands). Paguristes jalur is an easy-to-recognize hermit crab with orange-red striped legs and a white body.

Occurrence: Eastern Indian Ocean: Cocos Islands (Keeling Islands) and Christmas Island; Western Pacific: Guam and Ryukyu Islands in southwestern Japan; 2-37m.

Habitat. coral reefs; Underwater caves and small crevices or horizontal holes on fore-reef slopes. It also occurs under rocks or in caves on the seaward reef.

Possibility of confusion: Pylopaguropsis fimbriata, has similar stripes.
