Info
Paramysis (Serrapalpisis) lacustris is native to the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Caspian Sea, as well as the lower sections of rivers that flow into these seas.
In 1949, the suspended shrimp was introduced into the waters of Ukraine, mainly to provide an additional source of food for the existing fish, which worked well.
The suspended shrimp is very tolerant of different waters (freshwater, brackish water, seawater) and can also survive well in polluted waters
As expected, Paramysis (Serrapalpisis) lacustris has successfully made its triumphal march through Europe and was reported from Krauel , Elbe, Hamburg in March 2024.
Paramysis (Serrapalpisis) lacustris is expected to have a significant impact on native species; the extent of the species' expansion and the strength of the impact are still being investigated.
Synonyms:
Mesomysis czerniavskyi G.O. Sars, 1893
Mesomysis kowalevskii Czerniavsky, 1882
Mesomysis lacustris Czerniavsky, 1882
