Info

Prosthiostomum huidongense is a species of fission worm discovered in Huidong, Guangdong Province, China, South China Sea, and first described in 2024.
Three specimens were collected under rocks in the intertidal zone.

Prosthiostomum huidongense is characterized by few marginal eyes scattered between the marginal band and the cerebral eyes, a sucker located at two-thirds of the body length and separated from the female gonopore by twice the distance between the male and female gonopores, and a shallow male atrium with a slightly ruffled inner wall that is approximately perpendicular to the body wall.

Etymology:
The species name "huidongense" is derived from the name of the city of Huidong in Guangdong Province, China.
