Umbrina ronchus is a rather large umber fish that is sometimes shown in groups in public aquariums.
The fish, which grows to between 80cm and 100cm, is very popular with sport anglers and is pursued by commercial fishermen.
Color: The umber fish is brownish silvery dark on the back with purple dotted oblique wavy stripes along the scale rows, which become weaker with growth.
The operculum is blackish with a dark spot on the outside and on the upper corner of the gill cover.
The distal parts of the caudal, anal and pelvic fins are darker.
The scales are mostly ctenoid, cycloid on the snout and under the eyes.
