Type locality for description is in the Bismarck Sea.

""goodheartae"" named in honour of Jessica Goodheart, who collected the holotype of this species as well as many other specimens.

Cyerce goodheartae corresponds Cyerce sp.1 in NSSI 2, Gosliner, Valdes, Beherens 2015.
