Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Lobophyllia valenciennesii are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Lobophyllia valenciennesii, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Lobophyllia valenciennesii, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Lobophyllia valenciennesii Milne Edwards and Haime, 1849

They need middle light zone, a quite strong, preferably changing current, which should never be directed directly to the animal.

They also live beside the zooxanthellae from catching plankton, small usable food particles.

The following colors are known: various colors mixed, over green, gray, purple and brown.
Particularly beautiful color variants cost accordingly more.
