The background colour is translucent to a deep orange. On the mantle are white patches, small blackish spots and relatively large rounded, often capped,deep orange tubercles. The largest tubercles are often white.
Doriopsilla janaina can be found in the intertidal and shallow water, but also to depts of 20 m.
This species feeds on sponges.
