Info

Kovacic & Miller, 2000

Distribution:
endemic northern Adriatic Sea (Mediterranean).

Biology:
Gobius kolombatovici is a bottom-dwelling and secretive species, observed at depths of 15-38 m. It was found to inhabit localities with a combination of soft sediment and rock. Common fish in the same habitat are epibenthic Gobius vittatus, Parablennius rouxi, Thorogobius macrolepis and hyper-benthic Coris julis, Chromis chromis and Serranus hepatus.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
