Heteroconger klausewitzi, also known as the Galapagos garden-eel, is found in the waters of Costa Rica to Colombia, and Cocos, Malpelo and the Galapagos Islands, It inhabits clean sand. Found in large colonies. Feeds on plankton.
Light to dark brown; several white blotches on head and on body below lateral line; anterior pores of lateral line surrounded by white-pigmented areas; gill opening in a black patch.
