Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Pocillopora brevicornis are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Pocillopora brevicornis, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Pocillopora brevicornis, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

We would like to thank Dr. Charlie Veron (Corals of the World) for the first two beautiful photos of Pocillopora brevicornis.

This Pocillopora species prefers to settle in areas of shallow reef environments and rocky reef fronts that are exposed to strong wave action.

Colors: The stony coral usually has a pale yellowish coloration, but it can also develop more intense hues such as blue or pink.

Similar species: Pocillopora damicornis from exposed sites differs only in that it is less compact and has fewer spherical branches.
