A real Perlauster (La Paz Perlauster), which was photographed by Martin Hablützel during a dive - location La Paz.

It gave, at the time of the photo, her spawn into the water.
As far as we know it is not very important for the aquaristic but for the pearl sellers.

The species of the genus Pinctada are summarized under pearl oysters.
The genus belongs to the order of Pterioida within the class of mollusks.

The range of this eastern Pacific oyster species extends from the west coast of Mexico (Baja California) to Peru.

It can reach a size of over 20 cm. Natural pearls can be over 10 mm in size.
Besides white pearls, this oyster species also produces dark colored pearls.
