Info

Sebastes carnatus (Jordan & Gilbert, 1880)

The Gopher rockfish Sebastes carnatus belongs to the family of scorpionfishes and scorpionfishes (Scorpaenidae).
There are one hundred and eight species of the genus Sebastes worldwide, fifty-three of which are found in Mexican waters, all in the Pacific Ocean.

The Rockfisch is a demersal fish species that is solitary and very territorial, living near shelter over rock structures or in kelp forests

Sebastes carnatus is poorly studied, and very little information is available on its lifestyle and behavioral patterns, including specific details on age, growth, longevity, movement patterns, diet, habitat use, and reproduction.
